Government Ministers Show Support for the Haiti Relief Hurricane Fund

The Minister of Public Administration and Communications, the Honourable Maxie Cuffie along with (from right) Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, the Honourable Lovell Francis, the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, the Honourable Nicole Olivierre, Minister of Community Development and the Arts, the Honourable Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Honourable Ayanna Webster-Roy and Mr. Adrian Leonce MP, today make personal contributions to the Haiti Relief Hurricane Fund at the First Citizens Bank, Independence Square Branch, Port of Spain. In answering the call for more humanitarian assistance to be offered to Haiti in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, Minister Cuffie together with several of his colleagues took time during the lunch period of the Budget debate to personally make contributions to the Haiti Relief Hurricane Fund. Minister Cuffie stated, “It is important that we don’t lose sight of this tragedy which has happened on our doorsteps. Haiti is a member of the CARICOM and we must seek to offer any assistance that can help in returning that country to some level of stability.” The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is urging the national community to contribute to the relief fund. The Bankers’ Association of Trinidad and Tobago has also pledged its support to this venture by setting up deposit accounts to enable contributions from the national community.
