We Can Help Haiti

Haiti's Hurt

900 dead.

Whole towns destroyed.

Outbreaks of cholera.

A country in need.

In October 2016, one of the most powerful hurricanes in the Caribbean’s history, Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti, leaving almost 900 people dead and an aftermath of enormous destruction. Officials have classified that almost 90% of some areas have been destroyed. Some of the hardest-hit towns are yet to be reached by land, and, as more areas become accessible, more bodies will be found. Where there were forests and vegetation, now there are splinters and a saltwater swamp. Roads are blocked with debris, trees turned to tinder, and homes reduced to mounds of stone and rusted tin shards which once were roofs.

Once again, Haiti is hurting. And once again, we can turn hurt into hope.

We can help Haiti to rise from the rubble and rebuild.

How You Can Help

Every TT$6 counts.

The goal is for each CARICOM country to contribute $300,000.00 USD to Haiti’s relief efforts.

For Trinidad and Tobago, that translates to just TT$6 from each citizen. With just a TT$6 contribution each, we can have a major impact in Haiti.

Deposits to the ‘Haiti Relief Hurricane Fund’ can be made at the following banks into the respective deposit accounts:

Where Do Your Donations Go?

We are liaising with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), who are advising as to what’s needed on the ground in Haiti. Your donations will go to assist with the purchase of canned foods and water for specific ravaged communities, a 2 week feeding programme for 300 schools and infrastructural repairs to schools that have been severely impacted by this natural disaster.

This campaign will end on Tuesday 15 November, 2016.
